Terms of Use
Last updated: 13 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the Meow Map app and related services (“Meow Map”, “we”, “us”), operated by Amicitia Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Meow Map.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use Meow Map. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login details secure.
The service
Meow Map lets you photograph cats you spot, identify and catalogue them, and share sightings on a community map. Meow Map is provided on an “as is” basis, and features may change.
Community rules
When you use Meow Map, you agree to:
- Post real cats only: no memes, screenshots, or computer-generated images.
- Claim a cat only if it is genuinely your own.
- Respect private property: never photograph through windows or past closed gates.
- Put cat welfare first: never chase, corner, or distress a cat for a photo.
- Be a good neighbour: don’t feed, move, or pick up cats that have homes.
- Mind the location pin: sightings are shared publicly, so avoid pinning cats at private homes.
- Treat others with respect: no harassment, hateful content, or spam.
Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and content you submit. You confirm you have the right to share what you post, and you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, display, and share that content within the app to operate the service. You are responsible for the content you submit.
Ownership claims
Claiming a cat lets you add their story and receive sighting notifications. A claim reflects a community verification step within the app and is not a legal determination of pet ownership.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service, including by submitting unlawful or harmful content, attempting to disrupt or reverse engineer the service, scraping data, or impersonating others. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms.
Every photo submitted is screened automatically for content that isn’t allowed. A flagged photo is rejected and a strike is recorded; after two warnings, a third strike bans the account automatically, without a person reviewing it first. If you believe the check was wrong, email support@catapp.uk and a member of our team will review it themselves and reverse the decision if it was mistaken. Our Privacy Policy explains how this works and what rights you have over automated decisions.
Intellectual property
The Meow Map name, logo, and app (excluding user-submitted content) are owned by Amicitia Limited and may not be used without permission.
Disclaimers and liability
Meow Map is provided without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Termination
You may stop using Meow Map and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these terms or to protect the service and its community.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; continued use means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
